Neena joined Fox in June 2010 having trained at international law firm, Simmons & Simmons LLP. Neena specialises in employment and partnership law. She advises companies, LLPs, professional partnerships, senior executives and partners on a variety of issues including commercially sensitive senior level appointments and departures. Her experience includes drafting and advising on various types of employment and partnership documentation including service agreements, staff handbooks, policies and procedures, settlement agreements, retirement deeds and LLP and partnership agreements.
Neena has experience in advising on a full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law issues including redundancy exercises, sex, maternity and disability discrimination litigation, managing sickness, staff absence and performance management. She regularly advises employers on the law and procedure for making dismissals (recent examples include dismissals for underperformance and gross misconduct). She advises both employee and employer clients on disciplinary and grievance matters, which often result in a departure on confidential and agreed terms. When acting for individuals, she has helped to negotiate more favourable exit terms while ensuring that her clients’ career prospects and reputation are protected.
Neena gives strategic and tactical advice to both individual partners and firms in a variety of partnership dispute scenarios, including de-equitisation, underperformance, stress at work, forced retirement and unlawful discrimination. Neena also has significant experience in advising senior individuals planning to leave their current employer or firm to join a competitor on their contractual entitlements, restrictive covenants and fiduciary obligations. She provides strategic and tactical advice on the “dos and don’ts” in a team move scenario.
Neena is always conscious of her clients’ objectives from the outset and reaching a cost-effective and commercial resolution to a matter. She focuses on giving clear, pragmatic and easily actionable advice.
Neena is recommended by The Legal 500 2015 for Partnership law. Neena is also ranked as a Rising Star for Employment Law by Super Lawyers 2015. She is recommended as an Associate to Watch in Chambers UK 2017 for Contentious Partnership and her work with LLPs, partnerships and individual partners in disputes stemming from forced retirement, discrimination and underperformance amongst other matters, she is described as “fiercely intelligent but also possessing of the ability to simplify things where possible and avoid obfuscation.”
Neena is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association, the Association of Partnership Practitioners (for which she is a committee member of the Up & Coming sub-committee) and the City of London Solicitors’ Company (for which she is a committee member of the Whittington Committee).
