The first strike-off of a lawyer over misuse of AI has sent a warning to the legal profession about the risks of relying on unverified AI-generated material. The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) found that repeated use of inaccurate quotations and citations was serious enough to justify the removal of Abhishek Kumar from the register of foreign lawyers, although some commentators questioned whether the sanction was proportionate.
